It was a great season, you learned a lot and will feel at a loss now that the season is thru - not to mention have too much time and energy on your hands!!! Please consider the options that are out there for you to continue to improving your newly learned swim and dive skills! There are several local options. What about Club diving? Currently the closest dive program is at Skyline HS -East Valley Dive Club. You can find info about them here. Attached is a comparison of a few swim programs that our QC swimmers currently swim for. This was info I found online. Please see each teams website for more info. There are other teams out there too. Ask your friends who they swim for and get a carpool going! You will see that our QC coaches (including former coaches) coach for club teams, and you've probably already heard tons of testimony from those who joined club and after one year of swimming on a competitive club team made it to state! If making state is your goal, you can! There are two more swimming/diving seasons before the high school season in 2018 - lots of time to get faster!! Concerned about the cost? MAC has a scholarship program for those who qualify. For parents who want the inside scoop, there are fellow QC parents who have jumped into club who will share their experience with you. Is there a difference between those who swim or dive in the non-competitive groups (high school development) and those who swim competitively? Yes! Feel free to ask the coaches or club parents- respond and we will put you in touch from parents from each program. Do you need to participate in these off season options to make the 2018 QCHS swim or dive team? No, you don't. There will be tryouts to determine who makes the team. What is the coaches recommendation for when to start club? The sooner the better. Typically 1-2 weeks is sufficient for your body to recover and be ready for training again. Also, the longer you wait the harder it is to get back into swimming shape, and you will have missed both training time and meet experience. Will doing other sports help me be a better swimmer? They will help you develop character and be more athletic, but other sports skills don't relate or transfer well to swimming. To be a great swimmer, you have to put time in in the water. GO AHEAD - DREAM AND ACHIEVE! EVO POWER HOUR HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT- more info here
