The swim and dive team attended their 3 rd State Qualifying Invitational on Oct. 18 th. The swimmers walked away with 4 school records and numerous medal finishes. Most of theswimmers swam season best times in their events or relays. The swimmers have 1 more qualifying meet before the Arizona State High School swim meet in 2 weeks. Wettstein, B. Mullenaux) The Bulldog swim team attended their 2nd of four State Qualifying Invitationals this past weekend. Several swimmers and relays made provisional qualifying times. Many swimmers continue to improve on their season best times. The swim team has two more invitationals this month, Charger Invite and Husky Invite, before the State Meet on November 2 and 3.

Girls: QC 106 Skyline 78 The Boys and Girls Swim and Dive teams took home a pair of wins against Skyline High School on October 4th . This was the last dual meet of the season and was Senior Night, honoring the Senior swimmers and Diver. Congratulations to our Seniors: Eric Lopez, Gavin Kratzer, James Frazier, Brette Mullenaux, Ryan Anderson, Isaac Eller and Chace Flygare. The Boys team was led by Ryan Anderson (200 IM/100 Breast) and Gavin Kratzer (200 Free/500 Free). Both boys placed 1 st in their individual events. Trevor Alford (100 Fly/100 Back) was close behind with 1st and 2nd place finishes. Wyatt Rosaan (200 IM) and Trent Leeper (500 Free) placed 2nd in one of their events. All 3 relays finished in 1 st place to secure the win. The Girls team were led by Riley Farmer (200 Free/500 Free) and Ashlyn Wettstein (200 IM/100 Breast), both ladies finishing 1st in both their events. Brette Mullenaux (100 Fly/100 Back) took home 1st and 2nd place finishes. Clara Robinson, Jordyn Morgenthaler and Francesca Bartolone took the top 3 honors in the 100 Free. The Girls 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay were also victorious to solidify the win. The Bulldogs have three more State Qualifying Meets this month before the State Meet on November 2-3. Girls: QC 70 Mesa 111 The Swim and Dive team traveled to Mesa High on September 27th to take on the Mesa Jackrabbits in a dual swim meet. Many 1st place swims and even a new school record was set, but the Mesa High team’s depth was too much for the Bulldogs. The Boys team was led by James Frazier (50 Free/100 Breast) and Eric Lopez (50 Free/100 Free), both taking home a 1 st and 2nd place finish. Gavin Kratzer (200 Free/500 Free) placed 2nd in both his events. The following swimmers helped with team points by placing 2nd in their event, Dylan Ethington (100 Back), Ryan Anderson (200 IM), Isaac Eller (100 Fly). Chace Flygare placed 3rd in Dive. The Girls team placed 1 st in six of the individual events. Scoring was led by Ashlyn Wettstein (200Free/100 Breast), Brette Mullenaux (200 IM/ 100 Fly) and Riley Farmer (50 Free/100 Free). Rlley broke the school record in the 100 Free, swimming an impressive time of 55.72. Clara Robinson placed 2nd in the 100 Back. The Bulldogs take on Skyline in their last dual meet of the season on Oct 4th . It will be Sr Night at the pool, honoring the Senior class. The Bulldogs will be traveling to ASU for their 2nd State Qualifying Meet this Saturday. Boys: QC 104 McClintock 82
Girls: QC 63 McClintock 120 The Swim and Dive team traveled to McClintock High School for their first away dual meet. The boys came home with a victory. The girls lost, but Riley Farmer set a new school record in the 200 IM (2:19.88). The Boys Team was led by James Frasier (50 Free/100 Breast) and Trevor Alford (100 Back/100Fly). Both boys took 1 st place in their two individual events. Gavin Kratzer (200IM/500 Free) and Eric Lopez (100Free/200 Free) brought home a pair of1 st and 2 nd place finishes. Ryan Anderson (100 Breast), Trent Leeper (100 Free), Robert Dominguez (50 Free), and Isaac Eller (100 Fly) all swam well adding to the points by placing 2 nd in their events. The Girls Team was led by Ashlyn Wettstein. Ashlyn place 1st in both her events (500 Free/100 Breast). Riley Farmer won the 200IM event in school record time (2:19.88) and later came back to swim the 100 back placing 2nd in that event. Brette Mullenaux (100Fly/200 Free) took home a pair of 2nd place finishes. Clara Robinson placed 2nd in the 500 Free. The team heads to Mesa High on Thursday to take on the Jackrabbits. Girls: QC 117 Combs 55 The Boys and Girls Swim Teams pulled off impressive wins over Combs on September 20th . Coach Bear mixed up the line ups a bit, which produced some great racing between teammates. It also was an opportunity for swimmers to swim different events than in the past. The Boys were led by Gavin Kratzer(100 Fly/ 500 Free), Trevor Alford(200 Free/100 Back) and James Frasier (50 Free/100 Breast) scoring 1st in both their events. Eric Lopez (200IM/100 Back) placed 1 st and 2nd in his events. Trent Leeper (50 Free/100 Free) and Ryan Anderson(500 Free/100 Breast) had a pair of 2nd place finishes. Robert Dominguez placed 1st in the 100 Free. Dylan Ethington (200 Free), Isaac Eller (100 Fly) and Wyatt Rosaaen (200 IM) placed 2nd in one of their events. Nick Katsaras and Chase Flygare placed 1 st and 2nd in Dive. The Girls were led by Riley Farmer (100 Fly/100 Breast) placing 1 st in both her events. Ashlyn Wettstein (200 Free/100 Back), Brette Mullenaux (500 Free/50 Free) and Clara Robinson (200 IM/100 Fly) took home 1st and 2nd place finishes. Francesca Bartolone (100 Free) won her event. Lydia Heinrich(100 Free/100 Breast) had a pair of 2nd place finishes. Paige Deaton was 1 st in Dive. The Swim Teams have two away dual meets coming up. QCHS 70 Casteel 31 Girls: QCHS 67 Poston Butte 31 QCHS 58 Casteel 44 The Queen Swim and Dive Teams took home a pair of wins on Thursday afternoon, September 13th , against crosstown rivals Poston Butte and Casteel. The boys team dominated throughout the meet, winning every event except the 200 Free Relay. The high scorers of the meet were Eric Lopez (50 Free/100 Free), Trevor Alford (100Fly/100 Back) and Gavin Kratzer (200 Free/200 IM). All three placed 1 st in their individual events and were part of the 1 st place 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays. Trent Leeper swam a close race in the 500 Free and managed to out touch Casteel for a 1 st place. He also placed 2nd in the 200 Free. Ryan Anderson placed 1 st in the 100 Breast and a 2nd in the 200 IM. The girls team posted their first wins of the season swimming well against both teams. Riley Farmer led the girls with two 1 st place finishes in the 50 Free and 500 Free. Brette Mullenaux was not far behind with a 1 st and 2nd place finish in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly. Ashlyn Wettstein also placed 1 st and 2nd in her events, 100 Breast and 200 IM. Jordyn Morgenthaler captured the win in the 100 Free. The Swim and Dive Team travel to Chandler on Saturday, September 15 for their first State Qualifying meet of the season. Boys: WF 60
QC 121 Girls: WF 107 QC 77 Swim and Dive hosted Williams Field on Thursday, September 6th. The Boys team dominated the meet, while the Girls team swam well, they came up short of a win. The Boys team placed 1st in all the events and relays except the 50 Free. The meet started off well with the 200 Medley relay, both the A and B relays taking the top two spots. The 100 Fly event proved to be a trifecta with all the QC boys taking the top 3 places. The scoring was led by Senior, Eric Lopez (100 Free/500 Free), Junior, Trevor Alford (100 Fly/100 Back) and Senior, James Frazier (200IM/100 Breast). All three swimmers placed 1st in their individual events and were part of two winning relays. Nick Katsaras placed 2nd in Dive. The Girls team was led by Freshman, Riley Farmer (200 IM/100 Back) placing 1st in both her events. Senior, Brette Mullenaux (100 Fly/200 Free) took home a 1st and 2nd place finish. Junior, Ashlyn Wettstein placed 1st in the 100 Breast. The 200 Medley Relay team was able to out touch Williams Field’s team for 1st. Paige Deaton placed 1st in the dive event. Although the girls swam well, Williams Field had the depth with their swimmers to outscore the Lady Bulldogs. Next week the Bulldogs host Casteel and Poston Butte for a Tri-Meet and then head to Chandler for their first State Qualifying meet on Saturday. Boys: Desert Ridge 107
QCHS 76 Girls: Desert Ridge 136 QCHS 49 The Bulldog Swim and Dive team hosted Desert Ridge in their season opener on August 30th. After a timing, technical issue delayed the start of the meet a few minutes, the bulldogs took to the blocks and diving boards to start the 2018 season. The Jaguars proved to be a tough match for the Bulldogs. Desert Ridge dominated most of the meet, winning several individual events and relays. Several Bulldog swimmers had notable swims, putting up a good effort against the Jaguars. The boys team was led by Eric Lopez placing 2nd in the 200 Free and coming back later in the meet to out touch Desert Ridge in the 100 free to place 1st. In The 500 Free, Gavin Kratzer and James Fraizier posted a 1st and 2nd place finish. Trevor Alford took home a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 100 Fly and 100 Back. Ryan Anderson and Tom Higginson were also able to place 2nd in the 50 Free and Dive. The 400 Free Relay was able to capture a 1st place finish. On the girl’s side, Brette Mullenaux and Freshman, Riley Farmer, led the Lady Bulldogs in points. Both girls dominated their 1st place finishes, Brette in the 500 Free and Riley in the 100 Back. Both girls placed 2nd in their other individual events, Brette in the 100 Fly and Riley in the 200 Free. Ashlyn Wettstein placed 3rd in both of her events, 200 IM and 100 Breast. Next week the QCHS Swim and Dive will host Williams Field at the QC Aquatic Center. |
